Tom Yacovella of Old Forge and Utica, award winning wildlife artist and author of Wildlife Art of Tom Yacovella: Keep Looking for a Bluebird, will be among the authors, outdoor writers, and wildlife artists at the 2012 CNY Sportsman Show on February 4, 2012 at the Kallet Civic Center in Oneida from 9 a.m. ñ 4 p.m. Also featured will be Leo Maloney of Oneida, Outdoor Columnist for the Oneida Dispatch, Staff Writer/Editor for New York Fishermen, Great Lakes Fisherman and Empire Outdoor Journal magazines, Editor of FishNY.com and Lake Ontario Outdoors; Tom Lenweaver of Syracuse, award-winning wildlife artist best known for his gamefish, sporting dogs and migratory waterfowl illustrations used in various outdoor publications throughout the Northeast; J. Michael Kelly of Syracuse,  retired Outdoors Columnist from The Syracuse Post Standard, freelance writer for publications, including New York Game & Fish and winner of dozens of awards for excellence; David Figura of Skaneateles, Outdoors Editor for The Syracuse Post-Standard for nearly six years,  Regional Editor for 10 years, also working on a book on middle age men, “So What Are The Guys Doing?”; John Pitaressi of Utica, Writer for the Utica Observer Dispatch for almost 40 years and Outdoor Columnist since 1980;  Spider Rybaak of Oswego, Outdoor Writer for Oswego County Tourism fishing reports and Author of Fishing Eastern New York and Fishing Western New York; Carol White, Author of Adirondack Peak Experiences, Catskill Peak Experiences and Women with Altitude, who hiked all the peaks in the Adirondacks and the Catskills and Todd Mead of Lake George, Columnist for Outdoor Magazine and author of the Adirondack deer hunting book, A Lifetime of Big Woods Memories.  Other attractions are booth displays, free seminars, mount displays and the return of the Salerno Brothers. Pepe Aragon (center) of Herkimer, Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) Men’s Head Soccer Coach for the Generals since 1998, was named National Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at the Association’s Annual Awards Banquet held January 13, 2012 in Kansas City, Mo. This is the fifth time he received national honors (second only to legendary NCAA Division I Indiana University Men’s Coach Jerry Yeagley, a six-time winner). He also received NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year honor in December 2011, was named Coach of the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament and was recently named 2011 Coach of the Year for Region III, Mountain Valley Conference and District A. He led the Generals to be 2011 NJCAA National Champions, to 14 consecutive Region III Championships, five NJCAA National Championships and has an overall record of 260-24-13.  

Daniel Elthorp of Mohawk was appointed Campus Peace Officer for Herkimer County Community College (HCCC), responsible for security of College property as well as the safety of students, staff and visitors. Prior to his appointment, he was a temporary Campus Peace Officer at HCCC and previously worked as a Police Officer for the Frankfort, Dolgeville and Mohawk Police Departments. He earned his A.A.S. Degree in criminal justice at HCCC and a Basic Municipal Police Certificate at the Otsego County Law Enforcement Academy.

Amanda Yager and Nicholas VanDresar of Woodgate have a new baby son, Nicholas Jeffrey VanDresar, born January 6, 2012 weighing eight pounds, two ounces. Grandparents are Lori Wysluzaly of Remsen, Jeffrey Yager of Bridgewater and Valerie and Richard VanDresar of Otter Lake.
