Anthony Kalil of Inlet and West Palm Beach, Fla. was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain of the West Palm Beach Police Department on Dec. 7, 2011. After joining the Force in 1989, he served in several units including Patrol, Swat Team, Community Oriented Policing, Internal Affairs, as Detective/Criminal Investigations, as Field Training Officer and was promoted to Sergeant in Patrol in 2004. He was promoted to Lieutenant assigned to oversee the Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit in 2008. He earned his Master’s Degree at Palm Beach Atlantic College in 2001 and graduated from the FBI Academy in 2011.His wife is Betsy, and they have two children, Abigail and Anabelle.

John Sheehan of the Adirondack Council said photos were taken in Albany the morning of Feb. 13, 2012 at the Environmental Protection Fund Lobby Day at the State Capitol, when more than 100 individuals, representing more than 50 organizations, urged lawmakers to increase spending on major environmental initiatives, such as landfill closure, recycling facilities and new parks. Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee Chairman Robert Sweeney of Lindenhurst helped to promote the State’s Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), along with environmental activists using deer head costumes to show that the EPF creates jobs while protecting the environment one buck at a time.

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney of New Hartford recently greeted the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (V.V.S.) Future Farmers of America (FFA) in Albany to celebrate and educate fellow New Yorkers about their State’s maple-syrup industry. New York State Maple Producers Association said 2011 was the best year for maple production in the State in 64 years, 564,000 gallons of syrup produced with an estimated crop value of $22.3 million. It takes approximately 40 gallons of sap to create one gallon of maple syrup. FFA offers students the necessary skills (leadership, confidence, pride and citizenship) to become successful in a variety of career paths while helping them to discover the promising prospects and technological future of agriculture.  Assemblywoman Tenney invited everyone to the 12th Annual V.V.S. FFA Maple Sunday on March 25, 2012 at V.V.S. High School where a breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. featuring pure maple syrup produced by the V.V.S FFA.
