Little League season opened Saturday, April 14 in Boonville with the introduction of teams and coaches and the ceremonial throwing of the first pitch.

A young, but ready, Old Forge team played Forestport in the first game of the day. An impressive performance from Noah Lamphear lead OF to a 13-5 win. Lamphear had two extra-base hits, homering in the third and tripling in the fifth offensively as well as an outstanding pitching performance to start the season.

Old Forge out batted FP with hits by Josh Kelly, Thailer Ehrensbeck, Sasha Fielteau, Blake Greene, Mac Ritz-Kenny and Ryan Johnston. Sully Ulrich, Jimmy Connell and Waddie Kalil did their share of base running, contributing to the team’s fifteen stolen bases. Defensively, Charlie Uzdavinis at catcher and Nolan Fenton in left field displayed excellent fielding abilities in their first little league outing.

Coach Jason Perkins said he and Assistant Coaches Bill Fenton and Jon Ulrich were very proud of their team.

“Six out of our twelve players are new to competitive baseball,” said Perkins, “they are a great bunch of kids and eager to learn the game. We are looking forward to a great season.”

Old Forge plays the Firemen in Boonville on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
