An opening reception for the new exhibit “Local Talent: Artwork from Town of Webb Schools,” was held on Saturday, May 5, at View.

The school’s art students, under direction of teacher Robert Fountain, have nearly 100 pieces of artwork on display, including drawings, pottery, photography and paintings.

The works come from Fountain’s studio art, drawing-painting, independent art, ceramics, digital photography classes with a few select works from the seventh grade.

Lizzie Riehle’s Graphite Pencil drawing titled “Tonight We Are Young” was awarded Best in Show by the audience that attended the opening reception.

“The show was an incredible success. I thank View, parents, artists, and all of the volunteers that helped make this show excellent. My hope is to have a student exhibit become an annual event at View. It was wonderful to see the family and friends of these talented artists attend the opening reception. The students and I are proud of the work that we were able to share with the community from over the past two years. It’s a pleasure working with these creative kids. I will especially miss this year’s seniors, but look forward to helping current students develop into talented young artists,” said Fountain.

The show represents about 30 talented students, and will be on display through June 3.
