Boonville Museum posts its hours

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 - Updated: 1:48 PM

The Boonville Black River Canal Museum will be open for the 2012 summer season starting Memorial Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Museum will be open weekends through June 23 then the days of operation change to seven days a week through Labor Day weekend. There is no charge for admission to the complex but donations are gratefully accepted.

The Board of Trustees and volunteers have been busy over the past winter building new displays and expanding the mercantile.

The office that was just off the mercantile was opened up and shelves and cupboards were installed.

A counter was built in the style of canal era general stores. New canal clothing has been added as well as fleece blankets with the museum logo and new book titles.

There are two new dioramas. The first is in the Conference Center Meeting Room which depicts a canal boat going through a lock.

The warehouse is the home of the second diorama which shows an aqueduct in the three stages of construction. There are new pictures in the Conference Center meeting room and the hallway gallery.

Plans are under way for a Strawberry Social during Best of Boonville on Saturday, June 9, at the Museum Complex.

On Father’s Day there will be a benefit concert at the Boonville Elementary School for the museum. Adirondack Folk singer Dan Berggren will be joined by the Adirondack Community Chorus the Youth Canal Singers from Adiron-dack High/Middle Schools.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $8 at Fynmore Studios, Creekside Gifts and Antiques or any Board member.
