First Friday Art Walks will make their return on June 1

Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - Updated: 11:48 AM

Old Forge’s First Friday Art Walks will start their season at 5 p.m. on June 1. This is the third summer of these self-guided walking tours, which take place the first Friday of each month from June through September.

Each participating business or organization will offer a special artist, demonstration, music, or light refreshments from 5 to 8 p.m.

This year there are 12 venues in Old Forge participating in the event.

Stick Candles, Patti’s Paper Crafts, Dragonfly Cottage & Vintage Market-place, and Holly Wood-working are new to the event and offer fine diversity to the types of art offered along the walk in the past two years.

Other hosts of First Friday Art Walk events are View, the Old Forge Library, Wrap City ‘N Glue, The Starving Artist, 5 Corners Cafe, Sisters Bistro, Gallery 3040, and Ozzie’s Coffee Bar.

Maps can be found at any of these locations. Each art walk location will be stamping these pocket-sized maps for those visiting their shop, and collecting the maps at the end of the night to enter them in a monthly drawing.

These are some of the happenings that will be kicking off the season:

Dragonfly Cottage & Vintage Marketplace is featuring all of their artists and vendors. Stick Candles is featuring Thea Martin, who will show how to construct a bottle garden.

Patti’s Paper Crafts will feature Kathy Riehle, who will demonstrate Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).

Wrap City ‘N Glue will have Terren Waranis and Mike Salsbury playing on the deck, as long as the weather cooperates.

The Old Forge Library will be hosting an opening reception of their “Meet the Adirondack Pastel Society” exhibit.
