Otter Lake celebrating 91 years of ministry

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 - Updated: 1:08 PM

The 151-year-old Otter Lake Community Church will begin celebrating its 91st season of ministry with its first service of the season at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 1. The church welcomes and encourages summer visitors to help celebrate with them at this New York State and Nationally Registered Historic house of worship.

Preservation and repair of this Adirondack Carpenter-Gothic style church’s bell tower took place this spring. The interior work on the Minister’s Lodge has also been completed. During this worship season there will be special music offered by various groups throughout the ten-week season. Several new ministers will be sharing their ministry this season.

The July 31 services will begin with the Rev. Wilbur Pollock of Pavilion, N.Y. conducting the service and providing Holy Communion. Jennifer Ford will be playing the flute. The Rev. Pollock will also conduct the service on July 8. Rev. Pollock has been conducting services at the Community Church for over 45 years. Organist June Wellman of Otter Lake will provide the music.

On July 15 and 22, “The Revs,” Suzi and Jim Harriff will be joined by friends from the Syracuse area for two special services of Word and Song, featuring dramatic readings, flute, piano and guitar, liturgical dance, vocal quartets and other special music.
