Updated: Power outage in town

Friday, July 06, 2012 - Updated: 11:28 AM

The Towns of Webb and Forestport were without electricity last night due to an accident on Route 28. A car hit a pole around 10 p.m. last night in Forestport.

According to the State police, a 2005 Saab, operated by Caleb A. Kotwica, age 20, of Holland Patent, was traveling southbound on State Route 28 when he took his eyes off the road as he reached for a personal item in the passenger seat and struck a utility pole. State Route 28 was closed for approximately four hours while National Grid responded to scene and repaired the utility pole. Kotwica was treated for minor injuries to his hand by Forestport Fire Department at scene and released. No tickets were issued.

National Grid crews worked on the problem thorough the night, and the electricity came back on in most areas by 8 a.m.
