Barbershop quartet concert is Thursday

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - Updated: 12:48 PM

Legacy will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, for the Thursday Night on the Lake series at St. Williams on Long Point.

Legacy is a fun and fantastic vocal harmony quartet—four guys who lead you on a sparkling journey through the Americana songbook with a sprinkling of Broadway and movie classics, doo-wop and spirituals, lots of laughs, audience participation and a healthy dose of good old barbershop harmony.

Legacy features four veteran “barbershop” men that have all sung in other popular quartets. They have only been together a short time, but in their first full year of competition have really made a splash. In the senior division of the Mid-Atlantic District contest, the group won first place, which qualified them to represent the district in the International Contest. In January 2011, they traveled to Las Vegas, and were pleased to achieve a Third Place Medal.

The program is free and open to the public, but due to limited space in the historic 1890’s church; and the need for boat transportation to St Williams on Long Point, a boat access only site, reservations are required. Call (315) 354-4265. The barge leaves the Raquette Lake village dock starting at 6 p.m. and returns after the performance at approximately 8:30 p.m. In case of severe storm program will be held at Raquette Lake School on Route 28. Come rain or shine.  A pie raffle is held each Thursday to help defray costs involved in hosting the entertainment series.m
