Lake concert series to continue

Tuesday, August 07, 2012 - Updated: 12:28 PM

St. Williams on Long Point Thursday Night on the Lake series welcomes John Cadley and Cathy Wenthen for their first appearance at the venue from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, John and Cathy have each been playing music in the Syracuse area for many years, and have recently combined their talents into a “new acoustic” duo featuring smooth duet harmonies supported by guitars, mandolin, and banjo.

The program is free and open to the public, but due to limited space in the historic 1890s church; and the need for boat transportation to St William’s on Long Point—a boat access only site—reservations are required. Call (315) 354-4265. The barge leaves the Raquette Lake village dock starting at 6 p.m. and returns after the performance at approximately 8:30 p.m. In case of a severe storm, the program will be held at the Raquette Lake School on Route 28.

John Cadley and Cathy Wenthen’s music includes a heavy dose of Cadley originals well known on the local Syracuse bluegrass and country-folk scene, supplemented by a fantastic selection of country, folk, and pop cover tunes. Together they present a highly enjoyable listening experience for audiences of all ages.

John is the writer of “Time,” a number one hit on the national bluegrass charts as recorded by Lou Reid and Carolina. Cathy was a music director at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, N.Y. with many years of playing, singing, arranging and conducting. Under her leadership, the IC Folk Group has a reputation as one of the finest in the area.
