Old Forge eateries, inns display artists in anticipation of auction

Everywhere you look in Old Forge there are signs of anticipation for the fourth annual Old Forge Plein Air Paint Out. Nine local businesses in Old Forge are currently displaying paintings created by artists that will be participating in the Paint Out.

Visitors to Old Forge are often enchanted by the breathtaking Adirondack landscape and waterways. This Labor Day weekend, not only can you watch as painters capture the local beauty, you can also own the artwork that they create.

View is proud to present the Old Forge Plein Air Paint Out Art Auction on Sunday, Sept. 2. The doors will be open at 4 p.m., the auction will begin at 5 p.m. Take the opportunity to bid on the art during this admission free live auction while you enjoy light fair and libations.  

Have no fear about missing the fireworks in town later that day. The event will be finished hours before the firework show, and if you want to park your car in town early View will have a shuttle that will transport people one mile to View for the auction, then back to town. The shuttle will pick people up from the center of town on the grassy knoll next to the Forge Motel.

On Saturday from 5:30 ñ 7:30 p.m. attend a preview cocktail party. Along with previewing the paintings that will be in the auction, attendees will sample wine, beer and specialty soda while enjoying live music. There will also be a sketch artist on hand to create portraits, a Chinese auction, and other artwork on display and for sale from artists participating in the Paint Out. Tickets to the preview are $15 for non-members and $10 for members.

Proceeds from the event will help View continue to provide art programming to residents and visitors in the Adirondacks.
