Labor Day fun next on agenda

Tuesday, August 28, 2012 - Updated: 11:48 AM

Summer isn’t over yet in Old Forge, Inlet and the Town of Webb.

Labor Day weekend celebrates the beginning of autumn with all kinds of things to do for families, including live music and fireworks on the Old Forge Lakefront on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The music starts at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk. The live entertainment for this celebration will be provided by Paul Case. The band plays a mixture of rock, reggae, blues and folk music.

During the evening, the raffle drawing for a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro will be held. The raffle is  sponsored by The Central Adirondack Association. In addition to the Camaro, 11 more prizes will be given away, including a $10,000 cash prize, a $3,000 cash prize, and nine $1,000 cash prizes.

Tickets for the Chevrolet Camaro raffle are still available at the Visitor Information Center in Old Forge.

If tickets are still available on the day of the drawing, the Visitor Information Center will remain open until 6 p.m., and then the ticket sales will continue on the lakefront.

Cash, credit cards or personal checks will be accepted for payment. Only 999 raffle tickets will be sold, and they’re going fast.

The Labor Day weekend is also a chance to experience the Enchanted Forest/Water Safari one last time before it closes for the season.

Or, take the family on the Old Forge Lake Cruises to watch the Labor Day Fireworks from the water.

The scenic chairlift ride at McCauley Mountain  and the Adirondack Scenic Railroad will be in operation for spectacular views of the early colors of autumn in the Adirondacks.

Due to the rain cancellation of “The Elvis Show” earlier this summer, Joe Angerosa will be performing the show from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2 on the Old Forge Lakefront.

Angerosa has been performing an Elvis tribute for over 25 years. The Utica native has been dubbed “the best Elvis this side of the Mississippi.”

His performances, well over 500 to date, have taken him to such places as Las Vegas, Canada, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Memphis, and each and every performance has received critical acclaim.

Everyone is welcome for this free concert and all should bring a chair or a blanket. The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Town of Webb.
