Inlet, Old Forge Labor Day fun on tap this week

The summer isn’t over yet in Old Forge, Inlet and the Town of Webb.

Labor Day weekend celebrates the beginning of autumn with all kinds of things to do for families, including live music and fireworks on the Old Forge Lakefront Sunday night, September 5. Music starts at 7 p.m.  followed by fireworks.

During the evening, the drawing for the annual raffle of a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS sponsored by The Central Adirondack Association will be held.

In addition to the Camaro, 11 more prizes will be given away, including one $10,000 cash prize, one $3,000 cash prize, and nine $1,000 cash prizes.

Only 999 tickets will be sold. And as of August 26, only 200 tickets are left.

Tickets for the Camaro drawing are still available at the Visitor Information Center at 3140 State Route 28 in Old Forge.

Cash, credit cards or personal checks will be accepted for payment. If tickets are still available on the day of the drawing, the Visitor Center will stay open until 6 p.m., and then the sales will continue on the lakefront.

The live entertainment for this celebration will be provided by The Nards featuring Paul Case.

The band plays a mixture of rock, reggae, blues and folk music. Syd Pinto’s vocals are featured, along with Dan Porter on bass and vocal, and Darryl Mattison on drums.

The Labor Day Weekend also is a chance to experience the Enchanted Forest/Water Safari one last time before it closes for the season.

Or take the family on the Old Forge Lake Cruises to watch the Labor Day Fireworks from the water.

McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift Ride and the Adirondack Scenic Railroad will be in operation for spectacular views of the early colors of autumn in the Adirondack forests.

Accommodations and restaurants are priced with families in mind.
