Tuesday, September 04, 2012 - Updated: 11:48 AM

Established in 1994, the Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart race seeks to raise money within the community for local charities, organizations and families in need.

This year the charities being sponsored by the race are the Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC) and Home Aide Service of the Central Adirondacks (HASCA).

This exciting event brings local businesses together to vie for the coveted  trophy and to work together as a community for worthy causes.

The Charity Go-Kart Race will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 11. A rain date is set for Thursday, Sept. 13. Racers should call (315) 369-6145 to confirm postponement due to rain  the day of the race.

Come out to the race and support the local community and these two worthy causes.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing to begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp. The entry fee for a team of five racers is $225. Each racer will drive in two heats.

The entry fee covers the cost of admission, food and beverage for the race team. Team leaders should send their check for $225 and a list of five racers to Calypso’s Cove Charity Go-Kart Race, 3183 State Route 28, Old Forge, NY 13420.

Interest in the race is high, so it is suggested that you send race entries immediately. The deadline for entry is 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, unless the team limit has been met.

Race spectators will be admitted for a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children under twelve. The donation includes food and beverage. Two raffles will take place during the event: a door prize raffle—if you are interested in donating a door prize or gift certificate please call (315) 369-6145 or stop into the Enchanted  Forest/Water Safari office.

There will also be a 50/50 Raffle - 50 percent of the raffle money will go towards our beneficiaries. When you send in your race entry by Aug. 31, with your payment for 50/50 raffle tickets at $5 each or 10 for $20 Calypso’s Cove will double your number of tickets placed in the drawing. Ticket numbers will be issued the day of the race and tickets will also be on sale at the event.

Call (315) 369-6145 to have a race form mailed to you or stop into the Enchanted Forest/Water Safari office to pick one up.
