Alberta Hill Aldrich

April 23, 2012

Alberta Hill Aldrich, 92, passed away at The Lodge at Otter Creek in Middlebury, Vt. on April 23.

She was born in Rochester, Vt. to Albert and Marjory Kezer Hill. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1937 and Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1941. She taught physical education at West Winfield High School, West Winfield, from 1941-46 and second grade at the Town of Webb School in Old Forge, from 1955-1975.

On July 11, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Kearnan Fairbanks Aldrich in Crown Point, Ind. while Kearnan was serving in the Navy.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband and brother Richard Hill.

She is survived by her brother Fayette Hill and his wife Olive of Rochester, Vt.; daughter Regina Aldrich of Missoula, Mont.; and son Terry Aldrich and wife Beth Ann of Cornwall, Vt. as well as three grandchildren: Travis and wife Sierra; Ryan and wife Lizzie; Allison and husband Gregg and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service was held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester, Vt. on Friday, April 27.  

The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Haven in the Lodge at Otter Creek, the Addison County Home Health and Hospice, and Project Independence for their excellent care, love and compassion for Alberta during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Addison Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT or Project Independence, P.O. Box 581, Middlebury, VT.

Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home of Middlebury assisted with arrangements.

Memorial service

Burial services for brother and sister William “Nick” Weaver Jr. and Mary W. Greene will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday May 10, at Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge.  

Mr. Weaver’s son-in-law Dr. Les Young of Tennessee will officiate Nick’s service and Father Shane Lynch of St. Bartholomew will officiate Mary’s service.

All family and friends are invited to join the family at the cemetery and then at the Water’s Edge for refreshments afterwards.  

Mrs. Greene passed away Dec. 23, 2011 in Old Forge.

Mr. Weaver passed away January 2, 2012 in Tennessee.
