Peter W. Ziobro
September 24, 2011


Peter W. Ziobro, 50, of Old Forge, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, at his home. Peter was born on November 25, 1960, in Utica, the son of the late Martin T. and Mary Rose (Wurz) Ziobro. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Niagara University. Peter was employed as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with Novartis. Peter was a proud devoted father who shared his love of nature, animals and the Adirondacks with his daughters, along with many humorous stories.
Hunting and waterskiing were two of his most beloved pastimes. Peter was a great dad. He was a perceptive listener, blessed with a loving, forgiving heart. Peter made friends easily and had many. As people often sought his counsel, Peter was a natural salesman all his life. He excelled professionally as a pharmaceutical sales representative earning many awards for his excellence in sales.
Peter lived a deeply spiritual life and loved sharing the Lord with family, friends and strangers. He will be greatly missed.
Peter leaves his faithful canine companion, Moses, to his precious daughters. Surviving are his four cherished daughters, Kaleigh, Jennifer, Amanda and Sarah Ziobro. Peter also leaves three sisters, Mary Bethany Zaffina, Sara Vogler and her husband, Gerald, and Catherine Ziobro and her husband, John Mills; two brothers, Martin T. Ziobro, Jr., and his wife, Maureen, and Jonathan Ziobro and his wife, Jennifer; aunts and uncles, Rev. George Wurz, Lois Bianco, Elinor and Albert Mazloom, and Barbara and Alan Spreckelmeyer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his former wife, Nancy Spillett.
Pete was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Peter Zaffina.
Funeral services were on Sept. 29, from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, in Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated. Interment was  in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.

David Herlehy
September 29, 2011


David K. Herlehy, 86, of Ilion passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in New Hartford.
David was born March 22, 1925 in Little Falls, the son of the late David P. and Anna Kane Herlehy, he received his education in the Little Falls Schools. David was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army from 1943-1946. On Nov. 20, 1946 he was united in marriage with Beverly Wood at the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion. David was employed as a supervisor with H.P. Snyder for many years until the company closed and then for three years with Beechnut in Canajoharie. In 1986 David and his wife retired to Old Forge where he worked for 17 years at the Thendara Golf course pro shop, after his retirement from the golf course David and Beverly returned to Ilion.
Dave attended St. Bartholomew Church in Old Forge, he was a member of the Little Falls American Legion, a life member of the Thendara Golf Club where he worked in the pro shop for 17 years, and the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course. He enjoyed building and repairing golf clubs, as well as bowling and walking.
Dave is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Gail A. Herlehy of Utica, a sister in law Virginia Reynolds of Ilion, nieces and nephews Sharon and Thomas Vorce, Phyllis and Bill Laymon, Donald and Terry Reynolds and Timothy Herlehy. He was predeceased by two brothers Richard F. and Daniel P Herlehy.
In keeping with David’s wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to their favorite charity in David’s memory.
