Police Report - 09/18/2012

Tuesday, September 18, 2012 - Updated: 8:36 AM

• A formal complaint has been filed with Town of Webb Police by Beaver River property owner Thomas Calhoun, regarding illegal operation of scenic buses in the Beaver River area by operators of the Norridgewock Hotel. As a result, Russell Thompson was issued a ticket by Webb Police Chief John Russell for unregistered motor vehicle. The ticket is returnable to the Town of Webb Court on Thursday, Oct. 18.

According to Chief Russell, he knows there are more unregistered vehicles in Beaver River and he will be looking into the issue. “We’re going to be going into the Beaver River area to conduct some patrols and surveillance for other illegally operated vehicles,” said Russell. “The fact of the matter is Mr. Calhoun made this complaint. I can’t be doing law enforcement by appointment. I’ve got to be fair to the Thompsons, quite honestly. I can’t be just singling them out.”

• The Town of Webb Police Department received a report of a burglary on the evening of Monday, Sept. 10. The report came in at about 10 p.m. of a burglary at 592 Martin Road in Big Moose. The property owner had left the house around 5 p.m. for dinner, and when she returned around 9:30, she discovered the burglary had taken place. Missing from the residence were 16 weapons, personal jewelry and cash.

According to Russell, this follows a burglary that took place a couple weeks ago in the Twitchell Lake area in which a generator was stolen. That burglary is still under investigation.

The Town of Webb Police urge anyone with any information to call them at (315) 369-3157.
