Patricia O’Hern

Patricia A. Whelan O’Hern of Old Forge, and previously of Syracuse, died peacefully in her sleep on April 13.

Patricia received her RN degree from Syracuse General. Pat and Jack have a long history in Old Forge starting with spending their honeymoon here and visiting here as often as possible. The pair had a large group of friends that came up for a golf weekend every year.  

Pat and Jack finally purchased a home and moved here in 1999. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by friends and family at her home in “the woods.”  

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John “Jack” O’Hern; five children, Patrick (Nanette) of Syracuse, Michael (John Heck) of Lake Worth, Fla., Kevin (Jen Pauley) of Syracuse, Eileen Ternosky (Patrick) of Lafayette and Kelly Hamlin of Old Forge; her siblings, Bette Asprinio (Matthias) and Marilyn McCarthy and sister-in-law Marion Tickner; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  

Patricia was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Richard Whelan; brother-in-law, Donald McCarthy; brother-in-law Jack Tickner and her son-in-law, Charles Hamlin.

A memorial mass will be scheduled at St. Bartholomew’s.
