M. Lisa Monroe, reporter for the Adirondack Express for the past five years, will take over as editor on Aug. 23. Leslie Bailey, who has been editor since August 2007, is taking a position at the Arts Center/Old Forge.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Express,” said Bailey. “And I would like to thank Publisher Kevin McClary for giving me this opportunity.”
“We will all miss Leslie. She brought a level of professionalism to the Express that I’m sure will continue under Lisa’s stewardship,” said McClary. “The paper will continue to grow with the help of the local employees who have remained dedicated to its success.”
Monroe has lived in Old Forge for ten years. Her son, Luke, is a student at the Town of Webb school.
“I love the Adirondack Express,” said Monroe. “We consistently put out a fun, interesting paper. We just revamped our Web site and we’re going to work on keeping it up-to-date with breaking news, extra photos and, hopefully soon, even video.”
“I feel comfortable that I am leaving the paper in very good hands,” said Bailey. “Lisa will bring an energy to the Express that readers will notice and appreciate.”
“I’m going to miss Leslie,” said Monroe. I know she’ll do a great job at the Arts Center, and they are really fortunate to have her. The Express has been an institution in the Town of Webb for decades, and I’m happy to join the list of people who have edited this paper.”
You’ve seen Lisa’s byline in the Express for years, but did you ever wonder what the “M” stands for? She is named after her mother, Marilynn Leader, who has lived in Old Forge for many years. Yes, she’s Marilynn Monroe.
