Emma Anweiler, 11, and Max Mandia, 12, both of New Hartford, are ski racing athletes on the Mohawk Valley Ski Team. They participated in the Kandahar Ski Festival hosted by the Polar Bear Ski Club and McCauley Mountain of Old Forge on Feb. 25 and 26.

They placed first in the J4 class for their age/gender and both were selected as first place seeds for the Kandahar State Championships in Lake Placid.

Max and Emma’s parents have camps in Inlet and Eagle Bay.

The MVST is based in New Hartford and Clinton and McCauley is their home mountain.
