Inlet team defeated

Matt’s Hot Screamers faced a tough opponent from North Creek and suffered their first loss of the season. The Misfits got off to an early lead and took advantage of multiple mistakes by the home team.

The Screamers only had three hits through the first four innings. They scored only one run for the game on an RBI by Gordi Christadaro in the fifth inning, knocking in Katlyn Payne from second base. Sam Luce and Misty McGough were the first two players to hit safely in the game, then the bats were fairly quiet. Heather Levi and Emily Wilton each hit well and went two for three as did McGough.

The defense that had been the team’s strength all season was a big letdown and led to six  unearned runs for the visitors and a 9 - 1 victory.

The win for the Misfits gives the two teams one loss each for the season. Next game is the final game of the regular season against the team from Raquette Lake. The Screamers need a victory to clinch home field advantage for the playoffs. Next game is 6:30 p.m. on July 24 at Arrowhead Park in Inlet.
