Inlet crowns its golf champions

Inlet Golf Club Men’s League held a league championship playoff and end of season scramble on Aug. 20.

P.G. Nolan of Inlet won the 2012 gross title by defeating the four-year reining champion, Bob Philipson of Old Forge, in the first hole of a sudden death playoff which was necessitated due to a tie after regulation play.

The net division title was won by Tim White of Old Forge as he edged out Steve Young of Eagle Bay winning by one stroke in a match that went down to the last hole of their nine hole playoff.

In the end of the season four man scramble that was held Aug. 20, finishing first with a score of 68, was the team of Bob Philiipson, Bill Humphrey, Jim Flynn and Bill Faro. Taking second place shooting a 69 was the team of Sam Crocker, Tim Dowling, Fred Button, and Carmen Mastroianni. Finishing in the third position also shooting a 69 (determined by comparing cards) was the team of Bob Galliher, Bob DiOrio, Jim Murphy and Paul Scheidelman.

The day was capped off with a dinner and awards presentation held at Mulligan’s Restaurant at the club.

Anyone interested in joining the league, which is held on Mondays, next season should contact the club and leave their information.
