Dave Leach, athletic director for the Town of Webb Schools, has announced the pairings for the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament being held this weekend, Oct. 6 and 7.

Teams from Northwood Academy in Lake Placid and the girls’ team from Bolton and the boys’ team from Johnsburg will participate. Indian Lake will bring both a girls’ and boys’ team to the tournament.

It promises to be a very competitive tournament as most of the schools are having very good seasons. Northwood is always tough and the Bolton and Indian Lake/Long Lake girls teams are bringing winning records.

First, on Friday, Oct. 5, the annual parade takes place at 3:30 p.m. The bonfire is scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by the always entertaining alumni game at 7:45 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the following pairings will take place: The Indian Lake/Long Lake girls will take on the Bolton girls team to start the tournament at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m., the boys game will be between Johnsburg and IndianLake/Long Lake. At 5 p.m., the Old Forge girls will host Northwood Academy and at 7 p.m. the Old Forge boys will host Northwood.

Sunday, Oct. 7, the girls’ consolation game will be played at 1 p.m with the boys’ consolation game following that at 3 p.m.  At 5 p.m., the girls’ championship game will be played and at 7 p.m. the boys championship game will start. If there is a need for a rain or snow date, that will be played on Monday, Oct.  8 at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and at 4 p.m.

This long running tournament is always a popular draw for our town and is the place to be that weekend. As usual, there will be a food concession stand in operation during all of the games that are being played.  Try to make time in your weekend’s schedule to see your favorite team play.  The players look forward to your support.
