Marc Black Performs at Lewis County Historical Society

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25 at 7:30PM

Tickets $18 advance $20 at the Door

Marc Black is one of those rare songwriters who can express humor, social awareness and tenderness side by side in his songs. Sometimes in the same song.

Marc's an acoustic, finger style guitar player and has been playing the same Guild D40 guitar since he bought it new in 1968! It's well worn and full of tunes, anecdotes and tall tales. Marc and his Guild can channel Mississippi John Hurt as well as Tim Hardin. His show is an American story. A dream that just won't quit. True to itself, a story of family, community, conflict, and peace. And he's recorded with the best...Taj Mahal, Art Garfunkel, Steve Gadd, John Sebastian and Richie Havens to name a few. At a recent peace rally, Pete Seeger called Marc's song, American Children, "A beauty."

His forthcoming CD release, "Sometime A Spark" features songs about the environment No Frackin Way, I'll Be Gone, Praises to the Sea and Clean Up Man (an ode to Pete Seeger). Also tunes about political and social freedom Sometime a Spark about Tunisia and the Arab Spring, Born Again American, and American Children which is a song Marc originally wrote for a Richie Havens' recording.

Marc's previous release, "Pictures of the Highway" has reached #1 on Roots Rock Internet Airplay Top 50, #6 on the National Folk DJ chart, and has had received airplay worldwide.

Come enjoy a wonderful evening of music, stories and community.
