Cards of thanks - 08/28/2012

Getty appreciates support

It’s amazing to see how much support the community gives the students. I was so honored to receive the Express scholarship.

Writing has always been a big part of my life and I’m eager to explore and pursue it further at Emerson College. My dream is to see my name after “written and directed by” on my own films.

Thank you for helping me get one step closer to making this a reality.

All the best, Liz Getty

Tea party group offers its thanks

The Trustees of the Town of Webb Historical Association would like to thank the many people—listed below—that volunteered to work on the recent Victorian Tea fundraiser held at the Thendara Town Hall.

Chairperson, Cathy Trevett, began planning this Tea last fall, discussing entertainment ideas with Sue Russell who wrote and directed three short readings. The actresses were  Kelly Hamlin, Karen Lee, and Connie Milligan, who each recounted stories involving tea. Several different teas were brewed by Marion Gibson and enjoyed by those who attended. Tasty sweets and savory treats were also donated by many ‘friends’ of the Historical Association for the event.

Special door prize gift certificates for delightful desserts from fine area restaurants and businesses were donated by The Adirondack Cafe, 5 Corners, Frankie’s, Nathan’s Bakery, Pied Piper, Sisters Bistro, and The Steak House.

Stuart deCamp donated the use of the Thendara Town Hall, a perfect setting for the event.

Mary Brophy Moore designed the poster and Barb Proper sewed a vintage dress for one of the actresses. Behind the scene help came from Claire Hayes, Heidi Abrial and Shirley Lindsay who also helped Marcia Villiere and Joanne Stone at the admission table. Many thanks go to the Adirondack League Club for sponsoring tickets and transportation for Lakeside Terrace residents.

Proceeds from this event will help the Historical Association preserve local history and continue to keep the Goodsell Museum, located across from the Old Forge Post Office, open year round.  For more information visit www.webbhistory.org or call (315)369-3838.
