Card of thanks

Holiday bazaar a success

Old Forge chapter Beta Sigma Phi of the Xi Gamma Iota Sorority, held its Holiday Bazaar on Sunday, November 13, at View in Old Forge. The purpose of the bazaar is to give area not-for-profits and organizations an opportunity to raise money for their organizations through the sale of holiday gift items, raffles, and food items. In addition, the organizations are invited to submit items for an auction with all proceeds going back to the organizations. Thanks go to Bill Ransom who served as auctioneer again this year and did a great job. The bazaar was well attended by the community and we are grateful for their support. The event was a huge success .

The new arts center is a great location and we thank View for accommodating  the event. Some changes had to be made when setting up the booths due to the different layout of the building compared to the old arts center where each booth had a wall to help display the gift items.

In addition to the booths, Santa enjoyed visits from many children, the Masons sponsored a child identity program, and the cake-walk and other games entertained visitors.

The sorority has been meeting generally every two weeks from September through June for over 30 years, often at the home of one of the ‘sisters’. Each meeting has a program, geared to educate, inform or entertain the participants.  The sorority holds several fundraisers such as the Holiday Bazaar, each year and distributes money back into the community and other worthy causes.

Guests are always welcome to join the meetings. For more information, please contact the current President, Penny Smedley.

Thank you,

Penny Smedley
