Music from Salem Concert “whatever a sun will always sing”
August 13 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Cambridge, NY – Music from Salem expands to an exuberant group of ten performers for a festive final concert of the season whatever a sun will always sing on August 13, at 4 PM at a magnificent country barn at 105 McKie Hollow Rd., Cambridge, NY. The suggested ticket price is $25, but Music from Salem (MfS) welcomes all under its “pay what you can” policy. Tickets are available at the door only. For information contact [email protected] or 518-232-2347. This is the last of four concerts celebrating of Music from Salem¹s 2017 summer series. In 2017, MfS programs took place in Cambridge, Greenwich, and Salem.
Dvorak’s meltingly beautiful Serenade for Strings, conceived for string orchestra, will be played by an ensemble of nine including The Julius Quartet with violinists Jae Cosmos Lee and Rohan Gregory (a first time guest at Music from Salem), artistic director and violist Lila Brown, cellist William Laney, and Nathan Varga, double bass.
Byron Hogan of the Julius quartet and Laney, both MfS Cello Seminar alumni, will perform Curtis Hughes’ virtuosic “Merger”. Mendelssohn’s string quintet in A Major will lend breadth and depth to this luscious program. And, for cooling energy, Jae Cosmos Lee will solo in Vivaldi’s Winter, with Alfred Fedak on harpsichord.
