In an attempt to broaden community awareness and acquire new members, The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks is participating in the Old Forge Farmers Market.
Dee Kraft, Kiwanis Vice President has organized club members, created a booth and Town of Webb School Key Club has created posters displaying activities of Kiwanis and Key Club. Participation on Aug. 19 and Sept. 16 is planned.
It is hoped that with greater community awareness of the Kiwanis child center programs that additional club members will be recruited.
Central Adirondack Kiwanis, many projects include: Adirondack Kids Day in Inlet; Key Club and Builders Club at Town of Webb School; Kiwanis Canoe Classic; Christmas for Kids (Woodgate to Raquette Lake, Long Lake and Indian Lake); Donations to Community Youth Programs (Polar Bear Ski Club, Kinderwood, KYAC, Ronald McDonald House, Clara Condie Fund and Camp Gorham Scholarship); Food Cart food collection for Community Food Bank; Free Car Wash fund raiser for local Kiwanis Projects; Kamp Kiwanis Scholarships; Key Leader/HOBY Leadership Training; Bob Thayer Memorial – Kids Holiday Movie; Main St. Benches; Kommunity Youth Activity Center; Snodeo Fund Raiser for Christmas Projects; Student of the Month/Year Scholarship Program; Salvation Army bell ringing during Christmas on Main St. and Winter Sports Challenge, during annual Winter Carnival at McCauley Mountain Ski Area which includes a snowshoe race.
