Each year as part of Winter Carnival, Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks holds it’s Annual Winter Sports Challenge fundraiser. This year the 10th Annual Winter Sports Challenge raised $6,800 and the proceeds were donated to the Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge. Jim Connerty, President of KYAC in accepting the funds, expressed his sincere thanks to Kiwanis and the entire Central Adirondack community for their dedication to creating and financing the Kommunity Youth Activity Center, which has been so successful.This year’s event included snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The snowshoe and ski events were held at McCauley Mountain Ski Area as part of Winter Carnival weekend.The number one fundraising team was The Xi Gamma Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority who received the Traveling Plaque and a Permanent Certificate, The number two team was The Central Adirondack Partnership for The 21st Century (CAP-21) who received a Permanent Certificate. The No. 1 Fundraising Individual, Hazel Dellavia received a Permanent Certificate and $50.
