Pastel exhibition opens at Arts Center

The fourth annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, May 10 at the Arts Center/Old Forge and will run through June 8.
Entries in the exhibit came from twenty-three states and three Canadian provinces.  The Juror of Selection was Duane Wakeham, a distinguished pastelist.
The Juror of Awards was Doug Dawson, a noted pastel expert and the author of  Capturing Light and Color in Pastel.
Also on display at the Arts Center is artwork by invitational artists. Virginia Gordon of Inlet has a display of  birch bark flags in the Rosenau Gallery.
The flags are made of  white birch that is assembled and hand painted. Adirondack Dreamin’ photography by Peter Johngren of Hartwick is on display in the Adirondack Gallery.
This exhibit of 32 color photographs features the quiet, pristine waters of the Adirondacks. 
The Arts Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and are located just north of the village of Old Forge on Rt. 28.

ABOVE: “At the Water’s Edge” by Lucy Petrie of Burlington, Vt. Petrie won the Postcard Award and the Ampersand Art Supply Award. Doug Dawson, Juror of Awards, described the painting as, “a good example of a light painting with small darks.
