Daniel “Dano” James Norris, 36, passed away Thursday, June 22, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Dan was born July 20, 1980, and was a life-long resident of Raquette Lake. He was a graduate of Indian Lake Central Schools. Dan had a great talent for finish carpentry and woodworking. He was employed as a carpenter with his father’s business, Norris Construction, for many years. Most recently, he worked at Golden Beach State Park.
In his free time, he enjoyed a day of golf occasionally, along with some boat rides, fishing, and just spending some time with the people he loved.
He was known to all of his friends and family to be thoughtful and generous, caring and compassionate. He had a great sense of humor, was a fiercely loyal friend, and a kind and gentle soul.
Surviving are his parents, Garby and Linda, Raquette Lake; sister, Jessie, Old Forge and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In keeping with Dan’s and the family’s wishes there will be no public visitation. There will be a Celebration of Life at a day and time to be determined.
The Norris family would like to extend a huge thank-you to friends who have helped with Dan’s funerary expenses. We can’t express our gratitude enough for your generosity. The outreach from the community has been incredibly touching. We would also like to thank the staff at the Long Lake Health Center, and at Glens Falls Hospital for the excellent care that Dan received.
Arrangements are with Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Homes, 128 Fern Ave., Old Forge.
