The Town of Webb Police were called shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 after a Town of Webb groomer operator located what appeared to be a snowmobile accident on Trail 4.
Town of Webb Police Officer Kevin Birtle along with members of the Old Forge Fire Department responded to the location. It was determined that Carl Barcomb, age 52 of Route 28, had failed to negotiate a right hand curve and collided with a tree.

• A formal complaint has been filed with Town of Webb Police by Beaver River property owner Thomas Calhoun, regarding illegal operation of scenic buses in the Beaver River area by operators of the Norridgewock Hotel. As a result, Russell Thompson was issued a ticket by Webb Police Chief John Russell for unregistered motor vehicle. The ticket is returnable to the Town of Webb Court on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The State Police are reporting that at 12:51 a.m. Saturday the Town of Webb Police received a call from a vacationing police officer form Perry, N.Y., that he had shot what he believed was an intruder.
Investigators say that Michael Leach, 59, accidentally shot and killed his son 37-year-old Matthew Leach, when the younger man returned to their motel room at Clark’s Beach Motel.
Michael Leach’s service weapon was used in the shooting, police said.

On June 11, Town of Webb Police Officer A.J. Silverman pulled over Christopher R. Bartelotte, age 26, of Boonville on State Route 28 for uninspected motor vehicle, which resulted in additional charges. A check of Bartelotte driver’s license revealed he was driving with a suspended license, and he was in possession of marihuana. On May 5, a traffic stop resulted in an unlawful possession of marijuana arrest. Luke J. Jenicki, age 19, of Green River, Wy., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. He will appear in the Town of Webb Court at a later date.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Town of Webb police responded to a personal injury snowmobile accident on the pipeline trail (Trail 1) in Old Forge. Michael Caram, of Castle Creek N.Y., was heading north when he struck an hole in the trail. He lost control of his snowmobile and was ejected from the sled. On Feb. 22, Raymond LaComb of Remsen, was arrested on a warrant issued in 2008. The warrant was for second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speeding, and unsafe passing. LaComb was arraigned before Justice John Graham, where he posted bail and was ordered to return at a later date.

On Sunday, Feb. 12, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Webb Police arrested a Delmar man for operating a snowmobile on Route 28, and for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated.
Robert Havill, 49, was pulled over after being seen driving his snowmobile on Route 28 between View and Hollywood Road.
The arrest was made by Officer Dillon. Havill will appear in Town of Webb Court on March 1, before Town Justice Graham.

Katherine Shoemaker, of Lancaster, Pa., failed to negotiate a curve, left the trail, and struck a tree. A Lowville man has been charged with assaulting a woman in his cabin near Beaver River in the Town of Webb.
Jeffrey Jordan, 41, of 109 George Road, Lowville was arrested Saturday, Jan. 13, after the female victim of the alleged assault called 911. Tickets issued for feeding deer
During July, seven people were charged in the Old Forge area with violating the statewide ban on feeding deer. In an effort to curb this illegal activity, Environmental Conservation Officer Russell Ritzel has pro-actively patrolled, and at times conducted stationary surveillance of areas in Old Forge where tourists attempt to feed deer by hand.

Town of Webb Police are looking for suspects in three area burglaries.
The burglaries have occurred on the West end of Hollywood Hills Road and Lake Trail, off of the South Shore Road.
The suspects entered three different residences, where they have taken numerous flat screen TV’s and other personal items.

On April 16, at approximately 2:55 a.m. the Town of Webb Police Department arrested Ronald C. Salm, age 50, of Newport, NY, following a one car property damage accident on Route 28 in the Town of Webb. Salm was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (cocaine), and unlawful possession of marijuana.
