View’s Running Colors will be held in Old Forge on Saturday, Oct. 17. The 3.1 mile walk and run event begins at lakefront and follows the backroads in Old Forge, looping back to finish at the Old Forge Pond.
The race will begin at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is available online at www.viewarts.org and the cost is $30. Registration is also open from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on race day at the cost of $35. Parking will be available at the Enchanted Water Forest Safari on the day of the event.
The View website has a waiver that must be signed and turned in on race day. Participants that are under 18 years old require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
Along the route, walkers and runners will be doused with all natural, colorful powder by onlookers at every kilometer marker.
Color runs are becoming increasingly popular events in communities world-wide. Runners begin the races decked out in clean, white clothing and accumulate color throughout the race and at the after race party. People sign up individually or as teams and many approach the race as a fun, social activity. There are tutus, bandanas, tights and many other white garments at the start of the race. At the finish line participants are covered in bursts of various colors.
If you think Running Colors sounds like fun, but would prefer not to run or walk, then consider volunteering. View needs volunteer color-bombers to toss colors at participants as they go. To volunteer, call View at315.369.6411 x211or email [email protected]
