The Polar Bear Ski Club held its annual Tent Sale on June 4. The members all decided that this year the proceeds would be given to Bob and Helen at the Strand Theatre to be put towards the money that they need to enable them to go digital. We all felt that with all that they have done to support us over the years, it was time to support them and show them how much they are appreciated.
We raised just over $2,600 during our one day event. This amount will be matched by the Central Adirondack Asso ...
We join the many others who have lauded IVES. When called at 1 a.m. last Saturday, the ambulance was here in a few minutes with Jim Keough driving and Ron Lesick ALS and Ed Booton EMT.
Thanks to all of you for your awesome work. That's the first time Greg rode in the back of the ambulance after driving for 10 years. We know first hand what a personal sacrifice you make and how very dedicated you are.
Thank you,
Greg and Carolyn O'Hara

Over the past two months, "Bigfoot Research Teams" have focused on doing their research along lake, pond and river shorelines in the Adirondacks and Green Mountains, as reports have come in from fishermen of "huge footprints" being seen along the waters edge.
Research teams went out in kayaks, canoes and on foot searching the shorelines for footprints on my evidence of a bigfoot. On April 6, three huge footprints were found along the Black River in the North Lake area measuring 19" ...
North Woods Inn and Central Adirondack Kiwanis hosted a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit the Kommunity Youth and Activity Center on Friday, May 17.
The event was held at North Woods Inn Tavern in Old Forge.
Greg and Marie Ponsot, of the North Woods Inn, hosted the event in the Tap Room for the third straight year. Each year they generously donate all the food and labor for this meal, as always the food was excellent.
We thank them and their staff for providing us the venue and gracious and co ...
A daughter urges participation in her mom’s name
To the editor:
It’s been nearly two years since my mom passed away, the most painful and tear-filled years of my life. What I wouldn’t give for just one more hug, one more kiss, one more word of encouragement. I miss her more than I ever thought possible, she was my champion, my rock, my source of strength. Each day gets a little better; now there are more good days than bad, and it’s comforting to know she and my brother ...

I really don't understand the process. In Forestport, we have a Republican Committee that is made up of four members. Gilbert Fox who is in the hospital and his wife doesn't know when or if he will get released. Bill Gardner who is the present Highway Superintendent and up for re election, Bill Hasenhauer who is the present Town Supervisor who is up for re election and Harold Entwistle whose daughter-in-law is the present Town Clerk also up for re election.

To the editor?I am writing in response to a little piece of news I've been informed of. On Wednesday, May 22, toward the end of the school day, the Town of Webb Senior Band was practicing marching around town for the Memorial Day Parade. Upon returning to the school, Mr. Clark congratulated us for our good efforts at marching under the hot sun that afternoon. He then asked us to gather round for a minute before going inside; he had some unpleasant news for us. Mr. Clark told us that he will not ...
The Eagle Bay Volunteer Hose Co. wants to thank Billy and the entire staff at Billy's Italian American Restaurant for the successful charity benefit they recently held for the Eagle Bay Fire Dept. on Thursday, April 25.
Billy's Restaurant donated 20 percent of all sales for that evening to our fire department, which is greatly appreciated. Once again, all who attended agreed that they enjoyed a great meal and at the same time helped out the Eagle Bay Fire Dept. We thank Billy's Restaurant and t ...

The Women's Fellowship of Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church thanks all those who donated items for the Church World Service (CWS) Hygiene Kits. CWS distributes these in cases of natural disasters, violence, or grinding poverty anywhere in the world.
Fifty-four complete kits have been sent in from Old Forge, and these can mean the difference between sickness and health in time of disaster or great need.
Thank you for helping.

A huge thank you must go out to everyone who participated in the CAA's regional Community Pride Day. On May 1, well over 800 volunteers, students and teachers were out and about cleaning up the streets in Thendara, Old Forge, Eagle Bay, Big Moose, Inlet, Raquette Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake and Indian Lake. You may have noticed them if you drove through on the day. In fact, you could not have missed them. They all wore safety green t-shirts made possible by donations from 85 businesses w ...
We wish to sincerely thank Old Forge and Otter Lake Fire Departments and EMS for their response to our Adirondack lean-to and two acre fire at Tamarack Lake on Saturday, May 4.
In addition, assistance from DEC Officers Chad Richardson and Adam Pickett was very much appreciated. Of course, we cannot forget the timeliness and support received from mom (Geraldine Brodock) and Scott Liddle.
We recognize how fortunate we are that our home is still standing and for the opportunity we have to live in ...

The officers and members of the Webb Property Owners Association have followed the 2013-2014 draft proposed TOW school budget to its conclusion. We appreciate the availability of information and the superintendent's time explaining it to us. Having attended the school board meetings during the budget process, I can say it was a very open process.
The TOW school district's proposed second draft budget proposed a tax levy that would have resulted in a tax increase of greater than 8 p ...

Resolution by the ANCA Board of Directors, Sept. 27, 2012.

Our Seniors were so wonderful on the trip to Munson-Williams-Proctor, I thought I would just share that. Ushers came up to tell me that they were the best group they have seen in a while. Members of the audience walked up to me at the end of the film and said the same thing.
They were polite, attentive, and well-behaved, and certainly great representatives for our school. Everyone there wanted to know what school we were from and I was proud to say Town of Webb.

A few weeks ago members of the F & J Bigfoot Research Team from New York State and Vermont were doing research in the North Lake area, due to recent reported sightings and footprints seen by residents in the area.
Researchers searched the area and found three huge footprints in the muddy sand of which two were casted measuring 19" long by 7" wide, with five toes and a 4 3/4" round heel.
This was brought to the attention of the world's top wildlife biologist for study.

The Drama Department of the Town of Webb School would like to say an enormous thank you to all the local businesses who supported our production of "Bye, Bye Birdie" by advertising in our playbill. Sincere thanks also goes out to our local newspapers for the wonderful coverage they provided in the weeks prior to opening night, and to everyone who let us display a poster in order to help advertise our production.

The Socash family says thanks
We would like to extend our gratitude for all expressions of sympathy with the passing of our mother/grandmother, Mary Louise Socash in our home on March 12.

I write to clarify the status of View's new Wetland Walkway project.
In March, the Adirondack Park Agency approved our request for a permit to construct a wetland walkway behind View.
Chrissy Prichard's recent article in the Express gives a comprehensive overview of the plan. The project has always been part of our plan as an extension of the Kashiwa Eco Gallery, and while we will not solicit funds for this project, there are some excellent grant opportunities that we will pursue.

I recently received an issue of the Adirondack Express and as usual Mr. Thompson from Beaver River had a long editorial telling how great the rail trail would be and all the money (and it's all about the money) that could be collected from hikers, bikers, and snowmobilers. Maybe a 4-lane highway from Lake Placid to Thendara would be a more profitable choice with a Flying J in Beaver River or Big Moose.
I am a supporter of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad and of the plan they have in ...

We would like to thank the Adirondack League Club for the use of the tablecloths. We would like to thank Brian Schoen and Hannah Payne for their help with setting up and serving. We would ...
Dear Mr. Rose,
I am writing to thank Central Adirondack Partnership for the 21s Century for the excellent work you all are completing inside the Blue Line. You have selflessly given of your time and talents to address the economic, environmental and social needs of the region, and your efforts are greatly appreciated. CAP-21's unwavering commitment to the communities it serves is certainly admirable and I hope others are inspired by your wonderful example of pragmatism.

Bravo! Mart Allen for speaking so eloquently on behalf of Harri and Jatiner from the former Byrne Dairy. I have personal knowledge of the coffee klatch he refers to, who indeed have many opinions on solving the problems of society, although their politics may differ greatly. They gather daily and can fix or at least give expert advice on how to repair anything or where to find the best replacement parts, whether they be for a machine or the human body, and all are in complete agr ...
The first ever St. Patrick's Day Legislative Meet and Greet held on March 15 was a great success, with approximately 90 people taking advantage of the opportunity to meet their state and county representatives at an informal luncheon. Central Adirondack Partnership for the 21st Century (CAP-21) sponsored the event which was hosted at VIEW, and also involved support from the Central Adirondack Association (CAA) and the Old Forge St. Patrick's Day Committee. As a result of NYS legislative redistri ...
The Central Adirondack Association would like to thank all of our Snofest visitors who attended the two day event and made it one of the most successful to date.
Snofest was the product of months of organizing and preparing. The event co-chairs, Dave Etsen and Sandy Booton, should be very proud.
A special thank you to Snofest Committee members; Mike Farmer, Doug Smith, John and Linda Sarkisian, Phil Martin and Jamie Loson. Snofest could not happen without partnership from the Town of Webb, the T ...
